A man and his dog are dead after jumping from a hotel balcony, authorities say.
The body of the man was found Wednesday afternoon at the Hilton Vancouver Vancouver, which has more than 800 rooms and suites, Vancouver police said in a news release.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The dog, named Bijou, was transported to a veterinary hospital where he later died.
The Vancouver police and Vancouver Fire Department said they were called to the hotel at about 11 p.m.
It is not clear what caused the man’s death.
The hotel, owned by the Sheraton Hotels and Resorts Group, said it has an active and secure fire department, and the hotel remains closed.
Sheraton Hotel said it will remain closed for the rest of the day as it investigates the cause of the incident.
